Privacy policy.

This explains what JourneyWell collects when you use journeywell.io, why we collect it, who else gets to see it, and how to make us delete it. It is written to be read, not to be survived.

Who we are

JourneyWell is a content and video production studio based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. This policy covers the website journeywell.io and everything on it, including the booking pages at journeywell.io/book-studio and the questionnaire at journeywell.io/next-steps.

If you want to talk to a person about anything on this page, email team@journeywell.io.

What we collect

We only collect two kinds of information: what you type into a form, and a small amount that your browser reports automatically.

Things you type

You choose what to put in these forms. Please do not send us medical information, government ID numbers, or anything else sensitive. We do not need it and we do not want it.

Things your browser reports

  • Which pages you visited and when.
  • Your device and browser type, and your screen size.
  • Your IP address, which gives a rough idea of your city.
  • Which website or ad sent you here.

Advertising and the Meta pixel

We run ads on Facebook and Instagram. To know whether those ads actually work, we use the Meta pixel, which is a small piece of code from Meta that runs on our pages.

It reports two things:

  • PageView, every time a page loads.
  • Lead, when someone finishes one of our forms.

When someone finishes a form, our server also sends Meta a copy of that same event directly. This is called the Conversions API. Before anything leaves our server, your email, phone number and name are scrambled using a one-way process called hashing, which turns them into a fixed string of characters that cannot be turned back into your details. Meta compares that scrambled string against its own to work out whether you came from one of our ads. We never send Meta your answers to the questionnaire, your budget, your revenue, or anything you typed in a notes field.

Cookies we use

We do not use Google Analytics, and we do not use any advertising cookie other than the two Meta ones above. You can also block all of this in your browser settings or with an ad blocker, and the site will still work normally.

Who else sees your information

We use outside companies to run the business. Each one only gets what it needs to do its job. None of them are allowed to use your information for their own purposes.

We do not sell your personal information, and we never have. We do not trade it, rent it, or hand it to data brokers. The only other time we would hand anything over is if a court ordered us to, or if we ever sold the business, in which case your information would move to the new owner under this same policy.

Why we are allowed to do this

If you are in the United States, we rely on the fact that you chose to give us your details in order to hear back from us. If you are in the UK or the European Union, our legal basis is your consent for advertising cookies, and legitimate interest for replying to an inquiry you sent us. You can withdraw consent at any time by pressing Decline or by emailing us.

How long we keep it

  • Inquiries and questionnaire answers: for as long as there is a realistic chance we will work together, and then we delete them on request.
  • Customer and payment records: at least seven years, because tax and accounting rules require it.
  • Cookies: the periods listed in the cookie table above.

Your choices, and how to delete your data

You can ask us to do any of the following, and we will do it free of charge within 30 days:

  • Send you a copy of everything we hold about you.
  • Correct anything that is wrong.
  • Delete everything we hold about you.
  • Stop emailing or calling you.

To do any of these, email team@journeywell.io with the word Privacy in the subject line, from the email address you used with us. We may ask one question to confirm it is really you. We will not make you jump through hoops, and we will not treat you differently for asking.

The only thing we cannot delete is a payment record we are legally required to keep for tax purposes. Everything else goes.

If you want your data removed from Meta specifically, you can also do that inside your own Facebook or Instagram account under Settings, in the section about your off-Facebook activity.

Children

This site is for businesses. It is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent us something, email us and we will delete it.

Where your information is stored

We are a United States business and our suppliers store data on servers in the United States. If you are contacting us from outside the US, your information will be transferred to and stored in the US.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and change the date at the top. If it is a significant change, we will say so clearly rather than quietly editing a line.
